Dovetail Goods

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Dovetail Goods (“we”, “us”) collects, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to orders placed on it.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you check out or contact us, we collect:

  • Contact details: name, email address and phone number
  • Shipping and billing address
  • Order details: products, quantities, prices, discounts and order history
  • Messages you send us, such as support requests and refund requests
  • Your choice to receive marketing emails, if you opt in

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your full card number and security code are entered directly into Stripe's secure payment form and never touch or are stored on our servers. Stripe shares with us only limited details such as the card brand, the last four digits, the expiration month and year, the billing ZIP code and whether the payment succeeded.

Information collected automatically. When you browse the store we collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, the link or ad that brought you here and how you interact with the checkout.

Checkout progress. If you type your email address or phone number at checkout, we save it as you go so your order can be completed, even if you have not finished paying yet.

How we use your information

  • To process, ship and deliver your order, and to send transactional emails such as your order confirmation and shipping updates with tracking
  • To provide customer support, handle refunds and resolve problems with deliveries
  • To prevent fraud, secure payments and protect the store and our customers
  • To send up to two reminder emails about a checkout you started but did not finish and, if you opted in, offers and news; each of these emails has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops them without affecting order emails
  • To understand how the store is used and measure the performance of our ads
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the store, and only as needed for the purposes above:

  • Fulfillment suppliers and warehouses receive your name, shipping address, phone number and order contents to pack and ship your order.
  • Shipping carriers such as USPS receive your name, address and phone number to deliver your package.
  • Stripe processes your payment and helps detect fraud. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Our email provider (Resend) delivers order confirmations, shipping updates, checkout reminders and, if you opted in, marketing emails. It receives your email address and the content of those emails.
  • Microsoft Clarity receives the usage and device information described below, to help us understand how the store is used.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers store and process data on our behalf.
  • Meta Platforms receives the ad measurement events and hashed identifiers described under “Cookies, pixels and analytics”.
  • Authorities when required by law, or to protect our rights, our customers or the public.

If our business is sold or merged, customer information may be transferred to the new owner under this policy.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

Cookies, pixels and analytics

We use cookies and similar browser storage that are needed for the store to work, such as remembering your cart and keeping checkout secure. These cannot be switched off without breaking the store.

We use the Meta Pixel, together with the Meta Conversions API, for analytics and advertising: to measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram and to show our ads to people likely to be interested. It records events such as page views, product views, add to cart, starting checkout and purchases, together with your IP address, browser user agent and Meta cookie identifiers (the _fbp and _fbc cookies, and the ad click ID in the link that brought you here).

For checkout and purchase events, we also send Meta your email address, phone number, first and last name, city, state, ZIP code and country. Each of these is normalized (for example, lowercased and stripped of spaces) and then hashed with SHA-256 on our server before it is sent, so Meta receives a one-way code rather than the readable value. Your IP address, user agent and the _fbp and _fbc identifiers captured at checkout are sent as they are, because Meta needs them to match events.

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the store and to improve it. Clarity records how you interact with our pages, such as clicks, scrolling, mouse movements and the pages you view, together with your device and browser type, and uses cookies to recognize repeat visits. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

You can adjust your Meta ad preferences or block cookies in your browser settings. To request access to or deletion of your information, open a request on our support page.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the state you live in, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and others with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use it
  • Get a copy of your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Delete your personal information, subject to records we must keep by law, such as tax records for completed orders
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights

California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended, in the past 12 months we collected the categories described under “Information we collect”: identifiers, customer records, commercial information, internet activity and approximate location from your IP address. We used and disclosed them for the business purposes described above, and shared identifiers and internet activity with Meta for advertising. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that require an opt-out.

To make a request, open a request on our support page. We will verify your request by matching the email address and order details we have on file, and respond within 45 days. You may also use an authorized agent, who must provide your signed permission. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our response, and we will answer the appeal within 45 days.

How long we keep it

  • Order, payment and shipping records: as long as needed to fulfill your order, handle refunds and support, and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations
  • Unfinished checkouts: as long as needed to complete the order or send checkout reminders, and for fraud prevention and record keeping
  • Support messages: as long as needed to resolve your request and keep a record of it
  • Unsubscribe choices: for as long as needed to keep honoring them

When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete or anonymize it. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, as described above.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), restricted access and trusted providers to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you if required by law.

Children

This store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Where your data is processed

We sell only to customers in the United States, and your information is processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, with safeguards appropriate to the data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make material changes, we will post them here before they take effect.
